Fair to somewhat good conditions for this image of Mars. This is as close to “closest approach” that I’ll get, since Mars’ closest approach to earth for this apparition occurred two days ago on November 30th. We still have many months of opportunities to image mars, but it will be getting smaller and dimmer as time goes on.
This image show Syrtis Major, Amazonis, the Hellas Basic, and the north polar hood receding to show the Utopia region.
