Here is Jupiter with its moons Io (left) and Callisto (top) taken in good conditions early this morning. Io is a volcanic moon covered in Sulphur, giving its bright yellow appearance. Callisto is an ancient ball of rock and ice the size of the planet Mercury, nearly fully covered in impact craters. As the image shows, Callisto is much larger than Io, but nowhere near as bright due to its dark, pock-marked surface.
