Jupiter has returned for its new apparition and I got a chance to get my first shots of the year. This one shows the Great Red Spot rotating out of view to the right and Io, its volcanic moon, to the upper left. Conditions were good, as the planet had only risen to about 45 degrees altitude when this was taken.
